About

The CoPOS Company was the outgrowth of a point-of-sale (POS) system developed by Ken Geiger for Bluff Country Co-op in Winona, MN. After hearing about this new POS several other area food co-ops signed on and The CoPOS Company was born. There are now over 60 co-ops and grocers using CoPOS. You can learn more about CoPOS by calling us at 1.855.77.CoPOS (26767).
CoPOS is uniquely designed for food co-ops. Co-op specific functions are a seamless part of CoPOS, including Membership, Patronage Refund, IOUs, Gift Certificates, and Special Orders. Extensive member tracking is integrated into our system.

Fully Integrated Membership

CoPOS has fully integrated Membership. Members can be entered by number, name, or even part of their name at any time during the sale and prices will be adjusted based on the Member’s discount. Cashiers are notified if the Member has any outstanding IOUs, Member Dues or Equity Payments that are due, and if any Special Orders placed by this Member have arrived. Signing up new members, paying IOUs or Membership payments can all be done AT the register.

Membership Structures and Discounts

CoPOS supports Membership models for full Equity, full Dues or a hybrid of the two. CoPOS also supports a number of discount structures, including every sale, once per 30-day month, once per calendar month and ‘N’ times per year. Each Member Type can have different discount structures. CoPOS separates and reports Working Member Discounts, Employee Discounts, Senior Discounts and “Basic” Member Discounts. CoPOS lets you combine these Discount Types for individual Members and even Member Types. For example, a Member can have BOTH a 5% Calendar Month Discount AND a 10% Working Member Discount that expires at the end of the month.

Item Pricing

CoPOS provides lots of flexibility for Item Pricing and Margins. Items are usually priced from their Cost and Margin. Margins can be customized to individual Items, Item Categories or Departments. Item Price, Cost or Margin changes can be set to start on future dates. CoPOS supports electronic invoices for major Vendors including UNFI, Scan Genius, and Order Dog. CoPOS lets you place Items on sale on a per-Item or “line drive” basis. Sales can be set to start and and end on specific dates. CoPOS has electronic interfaces to the Co-op Advantage Program (CAP) and the Healthy Advantage program.

Extensive Reporting

CoPOS has a complete suite of reports which are presented in a comprehensive and understandable way. Most reports let you select the information presented based on information you supply.

CoSAT

CoSAT is a CoPOS-infused laptop that is designed to let you change item information right on the floor and conduct periodic inventories. Information collected from CoSAT can easily be sent back to CoPOS. Stores using CoSAT for inventory alone have reported significant time savings and increased accuracies for their periodic inventories.
